The Genesis Farm Educational Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission to further agricultural and small farm life through education, awareness, support, outreach and service, especially to women and youth; and to respect Nature in a safe and sustainable environment. The Foundation is located on Genesis Farm, a twenty-acre market and educational farm where we grow a variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs fruits and flowers and share the farm with abundant wildlife and domesticated animals.

In 2007, we opened our farm to school groups as a field trip destination for grades K-4th. A combination of structured activities, hands-on participation and free play earned Genesis Farm recognition from LEARN NC as one of the &top field-trip sites for public schools&. Since that time, additional educational farms have opened, with more field-trip destinations offering a variety of activities in agriculture. We believe the young children in this area are being well served.

With the debut of the Foundation, we wanted to take the farm’s educational and service commitment to a different level. Thus, we broadened our focus from being primarily a field-trip destination to encompass more far-reaching opportunities for two large demographic groups under recognized in our culture: a) female farmers and b) teenage girls. Currently, there are several educational programs that complement the on-going activities on the farm.
